Troubleshooting
If you experience problems installing Java or The People Locator, follow the steps below to resolve the most common issues.
    Restricted Internet Access
      Ensure that your network's firewall/proxy server allows you to access the TrackaPhone servers. The IP addresses and ports that will be accessed are:

    Delete 'Temporary Internet Files' from Internet Explorer
     

Open 'Internet Explorer' and select menu item Tools > Internet Options. In the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.

Tick Delete all offline content and click the OK button. This may take several minutes depending on the amount of offline content stored on your computer.

    Check the network settings for Java
     

Start Java WebStart by clicking here.

There are two versions of Java WebStart. Follow the instructions below according to the title bar of the application window.

Java Application Cache Viewer

Select menu item Edit > Preferences. Click on the Network Settings... button.

If you access the internet via a direct connection, select Direct connection , or if you access the internet via a proxy server, select Use proxy server and enter your proxy address and port.

Click on the OK button to confirm any changes.

Java Web Start Application Manager

Select menu item File > Preferences.

If you access the internet via a direct connection, select Use Browser, or if you access the internet via a proxy server, select Manual and enter your proxy address and port.

Click on the OK button to confirm any changes.

    Remove then re-install Java
     

Open the Control Panel by selecting Start > Control Panel (Windows XP), or Start > Settings > Control Panel (Windows 2000).

Open Add or Remove Programs, then highlight and remove any entries that start Java... or J2SE... (e.g. Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_06 or J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1.0).

Then reinstall Java by going to http://www.java.com, then click on the 'Download' button for you operating system (choose 'Offline Installation' for Windows).
